A few quick things 03/22 12:23pm JST

03/21 11:23 pm EST

Train info is in the post below.

Rolling blackouts will resume today, so if you’re in Kanto, be ready.

Good point from twitter from @Matt_Alt: “FYI, a healthy skepticism of Western media does not equate to giving TEPCO and Japanese gov’t a free pass. It’s a balance.”

Reactors: Basically the last few hours have gone like this.  There was smoke rising from reactor’s 2 and 3.  Then the smoke was said to be steam and not hazardous.  So, work to restore electricity resumed on reactors 1-4.  I know, weird.  For sources, see any Japanese news source on twitter.  Seriously, all of them reported it that way.

Japan govt spokesman Edano says there are no plans yet to expand evacuation zone near damaged plant – Kyodo

Gas: I hear that the limit for gas in Taira (Iwaki) went up to 5000 yen today, which, um, blows my mind.  At least supplies are getting in now.  Use the fukushima_gs search [yes, just gs] on twitter to find gas info in Japanese.

Radiation: From Noriyuki Shikata – Basic Info on radiation exposure is available in English here.  [There are a bunch of links] http://www.nirs.go.jp/ENG/index.html

Bus: Fukushima Highway buses – from Narita to Koriyama is fully booked until the 26th.   For access to all highway buses in Fukushima go to:  http://www.f-banchan.net/fukushima/bus/bus.htm or call +81 24-536-6131

The Niigata to Aizu-Wakamatsu route is still very busy. Very early arrival is highly recommended for anyone wanting to board. The tourist information center outide Niigata station can direct you to the first stop which is much less crowded than the ekimae stop.

Extra info:
Via John Loynes: Iwaki radio presenter: Lawsons in Iwaki will re-open today.

Japan Times poll show 27% Gaijin left or are wanting to leave the rest choose to stay. http://www.japantimes.co.jp/

I’ll continue to update this post throughout the next few hours, opposed to creating a new one and spamming it out there.  Everyone be safe.
